70 originals and 50 alternative limited edition prints available soon at the Cultcha Lounge

Wow - It's been a busy old time, but what else is there to do!

The body of work for the 1st Cultcha Lounge exhibition is huge - and why shouldn't it be, it's not like the business has had to wait until various problems have been ironed out and put to rest or anything - so instead of just waiting the Culture Lounge likes to advocate creation (as if you haven't guessed that already)

Anyway - these pictures are the last original pieces needing to be finished off for the launch night which is fast approaching - When we have a confirmed opening date I'm sure you'll find out about it on facebook.

Here's a quick peek at the last canvases still needing to be finished.

The original pieces available for sale which will be exhibited in the very first Cultcha Lounge exhibition will be approximately 70 ranging from A4 images to Deep Wedge Canvases 60x60".

These images here are very similar in style BUT if you've seen previous images you'll know that I've been working on lots of different styles - Hope you like and come check out the finished pieces when we launch sooooooon :-D

Alive At Art - Saturday 6th July - Review

Alive At Art

Hull - Pearson Park - Saturday 6th July

Alive At Art Hull's 'one day' Arts Festival turned out to be such a fantastic day.

I first heard about this on Friday night through chance and fortunately enough  I changed my plans for my Saturday afternoon from going to Beverly Races to attending this brilliant, free, local event. It was a fun filled day of great food, weather, music, company and the general all round awesome vibe projected by the artists and attendees.

The community spirit really did feel alive within this get together of people from various artistic genres. The mix of poets, stand up comedians, musicians as well as aspiring and established artists really did cater for many peoples tastes and proved how successful local attractions like this can and will boost cultural & creative awareness along with community spirit.

The day provided many great moments, from seeing a friend Martin I particularly enjoyed the drop in nature of the 'live art' sessions being held throughout the day at one of the dedicated art tents - Artists and passers by got involved by becoming a muse for the surrounding artists to practising honing their skills.

After plodding around the surroundings of all what was on display me and a few friends plonked ourselves down next to a near by tree - Shade became undoubtedly essential - Rookie mistake on my part for not bringing suncream or a hat.
We listened to some assortments of music coming from the main stage whilst we relaxed and socialised with each other and surrounding groups of people.

As a nice little touch I ended up drawing about 20 quick sketches and personally handing them out to unsuspecting festival folk enjoying their day. So, if you were one of those people who happened to say yes to a free hand drawn sketch then I hope you liked it and thankfully the marketing material on the back worked it's wondrous magic as I'm sure you wouldn't be visiting this growing blog through course of chance.

I really had to emphasise on the backs of each image that it really was "just a sketch" and the whole point of it was to do something a little out of the ordinary in terms of marketing which was free, fun and embodied interactivity and community spirit.
After all, thats essentially what the Cultcha Lounge is about and it is slowly being talked about now by local creative talent.
Hopefully by the time we come to our launch night and we open our doors to the public, likeminded local artists and art enthusiasts will have more and more of a chance of knowing about us and how we want to help local artists gain more exposure.

So after a successful Alive At Art 2013 what can we hope for 2014?

I think it needs to be marketed better to the good people of Hull and potentially choosing a day in the year which also doesn't play host to 2 alternative festival/gathering would bode well in attracting more people to the venue.
Better toilet facilities would be widely appreciated I'm sure as their just wasn't enough and the running water within the toilets was only present during 50% of my visits (I needed to keep hydrated so I ended up their a few more times then normal - to much info? lol, sorry)
Also more attractions and play area's for the kids, possibly some rides for some of the more adrenaline seekers of the crowd.
Finally I was quite surprised to have gone the full day not seen people juggling, doing poi or any other circus related visual art (if there were then I just was't in the right place at the right time) but my suggestion is probably to pay for a small selection of people to wander around the full venue randomly displaying circus related activities, or, even a circus workshop for kids and adults to come together and boost interactivity and group participation.
Just a suggestion

Lets hope that next years event enjoys a great turnout and the same amazing UK weather.

Cultcha Lounge Post #1

Hello Hello Hello

Hello to all that has happened to come to view this very first post from the Cultcha Lounge.

It's exciting times and the future for the local creative scene in Hull is looking bright.

Funding has been allocated for the Cultcha Lounge to move into it's premises very soon - things will be painted, drinks menus will be tested, Artists will be exhibited, pictures will be taken and no doubt blogged about.

We expect to be open and launching sometime within the next....Hhhmmmmm.............. Say 10 weeks (Sep 2013) to be on the safe side but hopefully it'll be sooner - Hence how I don't have a specific Launch Date for you right now - Pahhh & Phuwee - We will have one soon as all the lease details are ironed out!

Since this is the very first post I think it is most necessary to fill yall in on what the Cultcha Lounge is all about - so without further adieu:

The Cultcha Lounge is about the following:

* Primarily the Cultcha Lounge is both a physical and on-line hub which aims to help local talented artists in their quest for International Stardom - Granted, some artists would just be happy to have their work purchased for a profit, or to be recognised by their peers as having created great work - the Cultcha Lounge's job is to be here to help you gain the recognition you deserve. We want to be that bridge between studying art and experiencing selling art and/or gaining commissions - you've gotta be in it to win it!

* We aim to provide great quality art equipment which has been hand picked as being excellent  equipment to produce with and we aim to provide it to you both on-line and in store at a great price - being a shop in which provides art equipment we have unwittingly become Hull's only high end art retailer - granted Hull folk have places such as The Range and The Works to purchase canvases and art equipment but rest assured experience has proved to me that the quality of the items I have purchased personally was only good to practise on, hence the reason why we will only provide to you fantastic quality equipment to which you can feel confident will result in a high quality sellable end result.

* The Cultcha Lounge hosts monthly exhibitions displaying some of the finest local talent out their in the creative field - it doesn't matter if your an illustrator, photographer, minimalist artist, landscape artists or what ever it is that you create our aim is to display up-to 4 artists creations per month - we will be able to display up-to 64 images per exhibition so that means you'll have to have multiple finished pieces to display. We don't mind if it's a collection of work you have produced or odd little pieces with no particular relevance to each other - If it's good and you want to display and sell it then we are the place to do it - BUT - what do we do for you and whats the general catch?

Well, we host your exhibition, contact local businesses to maximise your potential views, sales and services (effectively doing an agents job) - We create a unique networking experience for you which is vital in the art community (Party Planning) - We advertise your work on-line through facebook, Instagram, Vine, YouTube, Blogger, our on-line site (cultchalounge.com) & Pintrest..... oh and Twitter, this is the kind of job which people pay quite a decant salary to on-line account managers and social marketing managers but we do that because it helps you, it helps us, everyone's happy - What we get in return is 30% of the total turnover of your exhibition sales the other 70% generated goes to you for your excellent work - You don't have to invest any money, any time (other then to be present at your launch) and you get a great exhibition, a video's which can contribute to your portfolio, a great experience, rewarding networking possibilities, memories and good times and most importantly money in your pocket.

* Did I forget the drinks - the Cultcha Lounge offers a great place for likeminded artistic people to relax, create, work, network with each other and the general community - We offer a great drinks and snacks selection which you can check out on-line HERE - But don't just stop there, seriously, you gotta come in and try them for yourselves - When we are open obviously

***Please note that the website is still being worked on - people can not purchase anything from the site but we will soon be selling limited edition prints and art equipment as well as providing a drinks menu and keeping you up to date with future events***

So I think that's enough for now

Please sign up to this blog - share everything Cultcha Lounge related - and stay tuned for more instalments on progress and activity regarding this independent business help the cultural scene in Hull.
